TrikanasanaShout out to my three followers! Cheers!
The day after doomsday. If you haven't read, we had three yoga classes yesterday. Bikram taught the third. It was like trying to do yoga next to flood victims. Rough class. Bikram said it was his worst class he has ever taught in his life.
oh cool story. Actually 2.
One is during the 2nd class - before Bikrams - I practiced next to a buddy of mine - at this point we are all buddies. Our mats were on top of each other. During full Locust pose my buddy next to me just layed his arm on me and mine on him. In Lucust we just kept pushing each others arms up as we were exhausted. Then in savasana our hands and arms kept bumping each other the whole class - as with the girl next to me. So we all just held hands for a moment in savasana and let the energy run though us. It got me though the rest of class. It was kinda cool.
Next story. When Bikram came in to do the 3rd class of the day and everyone panicked. One of the panics was NO WATER. I had two liters of water and was almost out, but not stressed about it, I was planning to share it with the guy next to me as he was out. People started to leave to get water. One girl was running out of the room to fill her bottle and I casually asked her to please fill mine. I guess she wasn't to happy about it cause when she came back she kinda shoved it in front of me. I didnt' think much of it, everyone is pretty emotional here. When we got into lecture that night I had bought her a giant bottle of cold Gatorade and thanked her for getting me water during class and that I owed her. So after class this morning - which was killer to do - she came over to myself and another girl next to me and said this with tears in her eyes (a big deal for this person - not very emotional). I want to thank you two. Yesterday you taught me patience in class, thank you. I asked my buddy next to me what her interaction was with her, she said during class she accidentally knocked over her water bottle and she was upset about it. I guess me asking her for water added to it. So she said thanks and sorry after class. Stuff like that happens every day here.
We had lecture that night starting at 10pm. Bikram talked more about the mind and the body. Especially after that class of death. It was a good talk about how important it is to take care of the body so you can control the mind. Mind needs a healthy body. If you can control your mind you can control everything. If your body and mind are in control then the soul will be happy. A very very deep talk, I'm giving the outline. He also talked about emotions and not riding a roller coaster of emotions in your life. Stuff we talk about in sports as well. Good stuff. I'm just outlining here, take me out for a good dinner or some live music and we can talk more.
Then we watched video after video till 2:30am. I drank one of those horrible for you energy drinks cause I knew it was going to be a long night so I was wired. My spine was straight till 3:00am when I finally went to bed. The videos were of bikram and his guru from the 60's - 80's on American and Japanese television shows doing crazy yogi stuff. You know, the typical lying on a bed of nails while having a motorcycle drive over you, or having an elephant walk over you, every day kinda stuff.
Getting out of bed this morning at 7:30 was BRUTAL. I was a rock, a log, an acme anvil. Class was rough. The teacher was from NY and knew how we were feeling, his energy was great, so class became great. After class one of the other NY teachers bought us all coconuts to drink on the beach. It was awesome!
